A survey of CNN based on data from Webmotors on the size of the fuel tanks of new cars for sale in Brazil, it indicates that filling the tank in the country can already exceed R$ 1 thousand.
The vehicle purchase and sale portal x-ray analyzed the capacity of the reservoir of 450 models and versions of cars for sale in the country. The data were cross-referenced with the minimum and maximum price of fuels recorded in the weekly survey by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), which investigates more than 5,400 gas stations in the country every week.
The largest fuel tank of a car for sale in Brazil belongs to the RAM 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. They have a total capacity of 117 liters of diesel. Some automakers chose to manufacture diesel cars precisely because of the price of fuel, which had a better cost-benefit ratio than gasoline – something that is already starting to change.
If it were supplied at the most expensive gas station in Brazil according to the ANP survey, such a pickup could have a total cost of R$ 1,016. The most expensive value found in the agency’s research was in Maceió, capital of Alagoas, with the liter of diesel being sold at R$8.69 last week. This week the maximum was R$8.30 in Cruzeiro do Sul, in Acre.
The value would be higher than the largest tank in a gasoline-powered car. We’re talking about the Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography, which has 105 liters of reservoir capacity. If the driver had to fill up at the most expensive gas station in Brazil, in Barueri, in the interior of São Paulo, he would spend R$ 901.95. Over there, the liter of gasoline hits R$ 8.59 last week. This week, the ceiling was R$ 8.49 in Angra dos Reis (RJ).
The smallest tank of a zero car sold in Brazil is in the Renault Kwid, in the subcompact hatch category, with 38 liters. Considering the cheapest gas station to fill up with ethanol, since the car is flex-fuel, the tank would be filled with R$ 154. For that, the driver would need to travel to São José do Rio Preto, in the interior of São Paulo, where the liter of ethanol is at R$ 4.07. Campinas, also in the interior of the state, had the lowest value of the last week, R$ 4.29.
National average: 55 liters
The survey carried out by Webmotors pointed out that the average tank of a passenger car with a combustion engine in Brazil (ethanol, diesel or gasoline) is 55 liters. For this average, they take into account hatchbacks, sedans, compact and medium SUVs, vans and other traditional vehicles on sale in the market.
Considering the average values of ethanol (R$ 5,083), diesel (R$ 6,882) and gasoline (R$ 7,218), filling up a car in Brazil costs an average of R$ 279 with ethanol, R$ 378 with diesel and R$ 397 with Gasoline. The values are from the ANP survey released early this Friday (3/6).
