Fernando de Noronha is currently the best island in Central and South America according to the ranking of Readers’ Choice Awards 2022 released on Tuesday (4).
The Pernambuco territory appears in front of San Andrés, in Colombia; Roatan, in Honduras; Cayo Ambergris in Belize and the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador.
Located about 350 kilometers off the Brazilian northeast coast, the volcanic archipelago It is made up of 21 islands and islets, which form a total of 26 square kilometers – only on the main island there are 17 square kilometers, the only inhabited portion of land, where there is a small center with inns, restaurants and shops.

In all, 75 islands around the Earth made the 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards list of the best in the world to visit.
They were divided by location: United States, Europe, Caribbean and Atlantic, Central and South America, Australia and South Pacific, Africa and Indian Ocean, Asia, and the rest of North America.

Among the best placed in Europe are: Ibiza in Spain; Crete in Greece and sardinia in Italy.
The annual list of Reader’s Choice Awards which also contains the best hotels, resorts and spas around the world, is published by the specialized publication Condé Nast Traveler which, this year, was based on the vote of 24,000 readers and another 244,000 voters around the world.

Best countries and cities
O Brazil still ranks among the best countries to visit in the list published by the magazine. The national territory appears in the 47th position among 48 countries, ahead only of Cuba.
Who leads the list is Portugal followed by Japan and thailand . Europe, by the way, is the continent with the most entries of countries in the list, with about 17 representatives.
The award also released the ranking of best big and small cities to visit .
Singapore leads the list of the 10 best big cities, as the publication highlights that the city “has a growing contemporary art scene, new hotels emerging and a commitment to startups and innovation”.
Among small towns, who leads is San Miguel de Allende , which has been at the top of the list for three years running and is four hours northwest of Mexico City. According to the magazine, the mountain town is “a hub for expatriate artists, known for its Spanish colonial architecture and colorful facades.”
