After being successful in the awards season, including the Oscar 2025 with the award for best international film the Brazilian feature “I’m still here” won the Platinum Awards 2025 This Sunday (27). The film led the best in the categories in the categories of Best movie, best direction (Walter Salles) and best actress (Fernanda Torres).
The Platinum Ibero-American Cinema Award is an awards created in 2014 and seeks to contemplate the highlights of the year produced in Ibero-América. The award takes place in Madrid, Spain.
The actress Valentina Herszage 27, who gave life to Vera Paiva in the feature film, was the one who took the stage representing the movie and Fernanda Torres and accepted the awards at the event. She read a speech made by Eunice Paiva’s interpreter.
“I would love to be present tonight, but unfortunately this was not possible due to work commitment. I want to say that it is an immense honor to receive this award. This recognition reinforces in me the pride of being part of a cultural force That in cinema gave birth to artists such as Luis Buñuel, Pedro Almodóvar, Alejandro Iñarritu, Alfonso Cuarón, Ricardo Darín, Norma Alejandro, Penelope Cruz, Javier Barden, Marisa Paredes, from Glauber Rocha to Fernanda Montenegro ”, begins the report.
“This is a movie about a family, made by a family of artists and I’m happy to receive at the hands of Valentina Herszage, my daughter in fiction, who represents not only me here tonight, but also to Selton, Luiza, Barbara, Guilherme and Cora, without them, my eunice would never exist. Inhabited the skin of this woman. Walter is the heart of this rare, so human and delicate film, about the brutality of the military dictatorship of Brazil, one of the many that spread throughout the Americas during the Cold War. ”
“Through Eunice Paiva I revisited the horror of the dictatorship I met as a child. This great Brazilian, lawyer, democrat and human rights defender teaches us, at the present moment, to resist joy and civility, without folding ourselves to authoritarianism. In the name of the Paiva Paiva family, and all those who defended art and democracy, I repeat: Dictatorship, much, Fernanda Torres, finished.
