The Federal Police carried out, this Friday (30), operation Jupiter, with five search and seizure warrants in Teresina, Piauí.
According to the PF, the warrants are being carried out at the campaign committee, at the house and companies of a candidate whose name has not been disclosed.
Investigations into this case began when highway police officers found a driver who was driving a car, who was traveling from Teresina to Parnaíba, on the coast of that state, and seized R$24,000 in cash and boxes with campaign material, in September.
When questioned by the police, the man said that the money would be used to pay for the campaign. He did not provide any proof of where the money came from.
The PF suspects that crimes of electoral corruption and electoral falsehood have been committed, and ended up in the Federal Police of Parnaíba.
The PF seeks to know the origin and destination of the seized money, and to obtain information that will help in the investigation, which investigates crimes of electoral corruption and electoral falsehood.
