The Federal Police (PF) carried out, on the morning of this Tuesday (23), the “Lenocinium” operation, which fights a criminal organization specialized in the international trafficking of Brazilian women for sexual exploitation.
In this action, a preventive arrest warrant and three search and seizure warrants are served, issued by the 1st Federal Court of São Pedro da Aldeia, in Búzios, Rio de Janeiro.
According to the PF, investigations showed that a Brazilian woman was seduced by the criminal organization in order to obtain work in Empoli, Italy. However, when she arrived there, the Brazilian was kept in private prison, threatened and forced to prostitute herself.
The PF also wants to know if this group that works with prostitution in Brazil is somehow linked to the Italian mafia, which exploits the trafficking of women for sexual exploitation and drug trafficking abroad.
Police reached out to the criminals after a victim managed to escape from Italy, where she was being held in prison and sexually exploited. She had left Búzios, where she was enticed and taken to Italy with all expenses paid.
The charges can carry up to 20 years in prison and a fine. “Lenocinium” is of Latin origin and refers to the slave trade for prostitution.
