“Fast and Furious”: find out the chronological order of the franchise’s films

One of Hollywood's biggest franchises, “Fast and furious” Its first film was released in 2001 and, today, it already has eleven productions — which include some spin-offs of the story.

For more than 20 years delivering a plot of action, speed, robberies, revenge and a lot of unity between the protagonists, the order in which the films were released is not necessarily the correct one in the “timeline”.

With Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Eva Mendes, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson among many other big names in the cast, check out the chronological order of the franchise below.

Chronological order of the “Fast and Furious” franchise

“The Fast and the Furious” (2001)

The first feature film released, the story begins with police officer Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) approaching a group of street racers in Los Angeles, USA. With the mission to infiltrate among them, the character ends up falling in love with Mia (Jordana Brewster), the sister of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel).

“+ Fast + Furious” (2003)

Already part of the family created by Toretto, Brian is recruited by the FBI to infiltrate another gang and put an end to a drug trafficking network. This time, he has the help of Romam Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), an old friend.

“Fast and Furious 4” (2009)

In this film, Dominic Toretto and Brian meet again, after the protagonist flees the Dominican Republic. After an alleged death, the two team up to capture a drug dealer

“Fast and Furious 5: Operation Rio” (2011)

Still working together, Dom and Brian escape to Brazil, where they reunite the team to carry out a major heist in Rio de Janeiro. However, federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) begins pursuing them.

“Fast and Furious 6” (2013)

In a major turning point in the story, Hobbs decides to recruit Dominic Toretto's group to stop the actions of a skilled group of mercenaries that threaten global security.

“The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” (2006)

Although the film was one of the first to be released, in it the character Han Lue (Sung Kang) dies after appearing in “Fast and Furious 5: Operation Rio” and “Fast and Furious 6”.

Once a young American is sent to Tokyo, he encounters a dark world of rifts, becoming one of Han Lue's pupils.

“Fast and Furious 7” (2015)

With the arrival of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), a ruthless killer who seeks revenge for the death of his brother, which happened in “Fast and Furious 6”, Toretto's team is tasked with stopping him. In this film there is also a farewell to Paul Walker, after the actor died during recording.

“Fast and Furious 8” (2017)

Extremely loyal to the family of friends he created, Dominic Toretto finds himself in the worst possible situation when he is blackmailed and forced to betray his team by joining cyberterrorist Cipher (Charlize Theron).

“The Fast and the Furious: Hobbs & Shaw” (2019)

Another of the franchise's spin-offs, the film focuses on the union between enemies Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw to face a villain who represents a global threat.

“Fast and Furious 9” (2021)

In the production, a missing brother of Dominic Toretto becomes a skilled killer and causes the protagonist's team to come together to stop him.

“Fast and Furious 10” (2023)

In a new challenge, Dominic Toretto's team must face Dante (Jason Momoa), a mortal enemy, in search of revenge

Future of the franchise

In addition to the eleven films, the franchise also has two productions scheduled to be released in 2025, being a new spin-off, “The Fast and the Furious: Hobbs & Reyes” and the second part of the last film, “Fast and Furious 10: Part 2”.
