False consortium: 42 people are arrested for applying blows to Salvador

At least 42 people were arrested on Friday (25) for involvement in the false consortium coup in real estate in Salvador, Bahia. This is the second phase of the operation triggered by the Bahia Civil Police, with the objective of combating crimes committed by members of facade companies operating in the capital.

A police inquiry had already been instituted to investigate more than 200 occurrences that were recorded against the criminal group. Also according to the police, the estimated loss of the victims is $ 3 million.

According to investigations, the articulated and hierarchical scheme involves crimes of misleading advertising, estelionate, illegal exercise of the profession of real estate broker, money laundering and constitution of criminal organization.

Police said the victims were contacted by the gang through fake internet ads. Then people were oriented to attend the headquarters of these companies where negotiations continued until financial transfers were made. The police reported that in some cases the victims were even taken in visits to property that did not exist.

About 60 police officers are on the streets for this ongoing action, and some have been in three companies that are still active and are open to the public, located in a commercial building on ACM Avenue. It has been identified that false ads on digital platforms were used as bait to attract victims.

To date, contracts, notebooks, cell phones, card machines and other equipment used for the blow have been seized. The operation is the result of an investigation conducted by the Consumer Protection Police Station (Decon), through the Specialized Department of Criminal Investigations (DEIC).
