The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) rescued a family stranded by the heavy rains that hit Rio Grande do Sul. The rescue took place last Tuesday night (30).
According to the FAB, the family was trapped in a house at risk of collapsing, with water inside the house. They were transported rescued in the Candelária region and taken to Santa Cruz.
The force uses two H-60 Black Hawk helicopters, from the Fifth Squadron of the Eighth Aviation Group (5th/8th GAV), which were also sent last night (30) to assist in the rescues.
Request from the Gaucho government
The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, and president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spoke early last night (30), by phone, to discuss federal government aid for the state, hit by heavy rains.
The conversation took place after a post by the governor of Rio Grande do Sul on the social network X, requesting support to rescue people stranded by the floods.
About 30 minutes after posting, Lula said he had already asked ministry teams to provide assistance to the Rio Grande do Sul government.

Balance released by the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul late this Wednesday afternoon (1st) reveals that 114 cities in Rio Grande do Sul were hit by the heavy rains that have been affecting the state since Monday (29). At least ten deaths have been confirmed. Another 11 people are injured.
In total, 19,110 people were affected in Rio Grande do Sul by events such as floods, landslides, river overflows and landslides. The latest balance shows that 3,416 individuals are homeless and 1,072 are in shelters.
Of the total of ten deaths, two occurred in Paverama and two in Salvador do Sul. The other municipalities that recorded fatal victims were Pântano Grande, Itaara, Encantado, Segredo, Santa Maria and Santa Cruz do Sul.
