Explosion destroys restaurants of the Coco Bambu group in Teresina (PI)

An explosion destroyed the Vasto restaurant, a franchise establishment of the Coco Bambu group, around 6:30 am this Wednesday (21) in Teresina, Piauí.

The Coco Bambu restaurant next door was also damaged by the explosion, which took place in the neighborhood of Fátima, on the east side of the capital of Piauí.

The Fire Department has not yet confirmed the cause of the incident, but has ruled out the risk of further explosions at the site. According to reports, there was a strong smell of gas in the place before the incident.

For now, the suspicion is that the explosion happened in the kitchen of Coco Bambu and reached Vasto, a unit inaugurated on November 28th. The kitchens operated, according to initial information, in an integrated manner.

Injured

In a note, the Coco Bambu restaurant stated that the restaurant was closed and inoperative at the time of the incident. “There were no fatalities or serious injuries. A single employee suffered minor abrasions and is already receiving all necessary medical support, all duly monitored by our management”, says the text.

Gym, stores, clinics and other establishments located nearby suffered impacts from the explosion. At least four blocks were affected and the teams are working to assess the damage to the buildings’ structures, which had their facades, ceilings and walls destroyed.
