Technology expert Arthur Igreja analyzed the possible impacts of the suspension of the X platform (formerly Twitter) in Brazil, after the clash between billionaire Elon Musk and Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court.
According to Igreja, if the court order is complied with, internet providers will be notified to block access to X’s IP address. “So little by little people will lose access here in Brazil,” he explained, emphasizing that the process is not immediate and may take hours or even days to affect all users.
Impact on business and communication
The expert highlighted that the suspension of X will have a significant impact on companies and content producers that depend on the platform. “For many people, it is their main business,” said Igreja, noting that millions of Brazilians use X daily to get information and communicate.
Regarding alternatives, Igreja mentioned the possibility of users using VPNs (virtual private networks) to access X through servers in other countries, although this does not solve the drop in reach for those who produce content on the platform.

Finally, Igreja noted that both Alexandre de Moraes and Elon Musk appear to have achieved their goals in this clash. While the minister sought to establish limits and assert the authority of the Brazilian justice system, Musk managed to “prove his point” by defying the court rulings.
