European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that she expects Britain to respect all aspects of the deal Brexit under the new prime minister Liz Truss.
“Together we face many challenges, from climate change to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I look forward to a constructive relationship, in full respect of our agreements,” von der Leyen said in a post on Twitter.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz today congratulated Liz Truss on her victory in the battle to become the leader of the Conservative party, a position that leads her to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
“Congratulations on your new role Liz Truss! I look forward to our partnership in these difficult times,” Soltz said in a tweet. “The UK and Germany will continue to work closely together – as partners and friends.”
