With the president of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas met at the presidential palace in Ankara o Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish president said that his country is ready to assume a role as a guarantor country in the framework of the Palestinian solution, he urged unity among the Palestinian factions and he accused once more the Israel that implements a genocidal policy against the Palestinians.
In particular he stated: “We are witnessing one of the greatest barbarities of the century. With the unlimited support of the Western powers, Netanyahu and his government are committing genocide against the Palestinian people. Netanyahu and his accomplices in murder will surely pay before the law and the public conscience of public opinion for every drop of blood shed.”
The meeting between the two presidents, as reported by APE-MPE, lasted about an hour and a half and in the press conference they gave together, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: “As Turkey, we have announced that we are ready to take responsibility under a guarantee mechanism. We will continue our efforts in the coming period as well.”
He further asserted that “one of the best responses to Israel's oppression is to ensure unity and solidarity among the Palestinians,” stressing that Turkey is always ready to do its duty and will continue to support all efforts to defend of the Palestinian cause in any way.
He also mentioned that Turkey is continuing its efforts for the construction of a field hospital in Gaza.
“The Israeli attacks on the Occupied Palestinian Territories were at the top of our agenda in every meeting we had and in every visit abroad,” added the Turkish president, commenting that the “so-called settlers,” who “actually occupy and steal the lands they belong to the Palestinians,” are one of the biggest obstacles to a solution.
The same he accused for one more time West saying: “The Israeli government continues to kill our brothers indiscriminately whether they are women or children, and massacre civilians while they are waiting in line for food. The main reason for this illegal behavior of Israel is the support given to Israel by Western powers because of their sins in the Holocaust.”
“It is now understood that peace in the Middle East will not be possible unless there is a just solution to the Palestinian issue,” said Recep Tayyip Erdogan and concluded by reiterating the constant position he expresses at every opportunity, that “the only way for a lasting peace is the establishment of an independent, sovereign and geographically unified Palestinian state, within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital”.

From the side of Mahmoud Abbas called for intensified efforts to provide international protection to Palestine. “The permanent inclusion of Palestine in the United Nations by decision of the Security Council is something we desire,” he stressed.
At the same time, he expressed his gratitude for Turkey's continuous support to the Palestinians and conveyed their sincere greetings and thanks to President Erdogan and the brotherly Turkish people.
“Turkey fulfills its historical responsibility towards the Palestinian people on the basis of brotherhood and fulfills all its responsibilities in the best way,” Mahmoud Abbas said.
