Turkey is ready to take responsibility for the Palestinian issue as a guarantor country, he repeated Recep Tayyip Erdogan from the stage of the World Governments Summit (WGS), in Dubai.
The Turkish president accused Israel of not abandoning the policy of occupation, usurpation and destruction for decades and, if he wants lasting peace in the region, he “must abandon expansionist dreams and recognize the existence of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.”
“Every step taken will remain fruitless and the problem will not be solved without the creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, sovereign and geographically unified with East Jerusalem as its capital” Tayyip Erdogan said.
At this point, the Turkish president repeated that “the road to peace, tranquility and economic development in our region goes through the establishment of a Palestinian state, stressing: “In this context, we have said that we are ready to take responsibility, among other things and as guarantors, for the establishment and assurance of peace together with the other countries of the region”.
“We have made, are making and will make every possible effort. We host a total of 380 patients and their 344 companions in Turkey and offer their treatment. We will never leave our Palestinian brothers unprotected, helpless and alone,” added the Turkish president.
At the same time, he argued that today there is a Turkey with a growing economy, strong infrastructure, increasing efficiency in the international arena and innovations in the field of defense.
“We have been hosting more than 4 million asylum seekers for years now. It was not easy for our country, surrounded by a cordon of fire, to reach its current position” he said among other things.
The Turkish president finally stated that our world is going through a twilight period in which changes, tensions, crises and conflicts follow one another. “We are facing a painful world, in which a new crisis erupts before we have even resolved the previous one,” he noted and added: “We have faced additional problems in a wide range of sectors, from energy prices to the food crisis, from the struggle of armaments to irregular migration, Turkey is one of the countries that manage these challenges in the best way. From the very first moment we were in favor of peace, justice, diplomacy and overcoming problems with solidarity.”
In Dubai, Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and leaders of other countries participating in the Summit.
