Erdogan: The attempt to occupy Turkey through terrorism will not pass

A security council was convened immediately after the terrorist attack in the center of Istanbul by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who announced the official death toll so far, with six dead and 53 injured.

The Turkish president angrily referred to an attempt to take over Turkey through terrorism, saying that this attempt “will not succeed”.

In more detail he stated:

“I wish God’s mercy to our brothers who lost their lives in the bombing that took place on Istiklal Street today at 16.20 and I wish a speedy recovery to our wounded.

Attempts to occupy Turkey and the Turkish nation through terrorism will not reach their goal today and tomorrow, as they did yesterday.

Efforts are being made to arrest the perpetrators of the treacherous attack.”

The Turkish president also said that the attack was likely organized by a woman.
