THE Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at the closing ceremony of the 16th International Defense Industry Exhibition (IDEF) in Turkey and stated that his country has experienced injustices in its equipment programs.
“We have been subjected to secret and obvious embargoes, we have been victims of unjust and illegal restrictions,” he said characteristically and added that “we have experienced two extremes, injustice and infidelity, in the face of them, we did not give up, we never retreated from the road us”.
According to the Turkish agency Anatoliathe Turkish president said the country’s equipment reliance was at 80% in the defense sector 21 years ago, while it is now around 20% currently.
“During the 21-year (government) period, Turkey has achieved many successes, many victories, and built defense products which were once an unimaginable feat,” Erdogan noted.
“It is not right to use such a vital issue as security as an element of threat and pressure between countries,” he added.
