The president of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), Manuel Palácios, announced this Wednesday (8) that the autarchy linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC) will no longer carry out the digital edition of the National High School Examination (And either).
In an interview with the newspaper “O Estado de S. Paulo”, Palácios justified the cancellation of the distance test by claiming that few students have chosen to take it since its creation, in 2020.
According to the president of Inep, considering the low adherence, the cost of the digital version of one of the main forms of access to higher education in Brazil is not justified.
“Agência Brasil” got in touch with the advisors of Inep and MEC, who confirmed the information disclosed by the newspaper.
According to the report, in 2022, Enem Digital alone cost public coffers BRL 25.3 million. This means that the cost per student was around BRL 860, while in the printed edition this cost was approximately BRL 160.
“We decided to cancel the digital edition and there are no plans for it to happen again,” Palácios told Estadão. This year’s Enem physical tests are expected to be applied on November 5th and 12th. Initially, registrations for the regular exam must be made between May 8th and May 19th.
