Embraer metallurgists carried out a one-hour strike this Tuesday morning (11) and approved a strike notice at the company’s factory in São José dos Campos (SP), in a demand for a salary readjustment above inflation and benefits, as well as a ban of outsourcing production, said the union of the category in the region.
The aircraft manufacturer said it proposed an inflation adjustment for workers who receive up to R$10,000 and that employees from another unit accepted the terms in full.
The strike took place at the beginning of the first work shift, from 5:20 am to 6:20 am, and was attended by around 2,000 workers, said the Metalworkers Union of São José dos Campos e Região, in a statement.
The factory has 9,000 metallurgists, according to the entity.
Among the claims are a 14% readjustment, a monthly purchase voucher of R$800 for all metallurgists and a ban on outsourcing production at the factory — according to the entity, Embraer tries to overturn this ban provided for in the category convention.
The union said that it will meet with the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), at 10 am, to negotiate the salary campaign for the aeronautical sector in the region.
Embraer stated in a note that it granted a salary adjustment of 8.83% – which corresponds to inflation – to employees who receive up to 10 thousand reais and a fixed salary of 883 reais to those who receive above this amount, as proposed in September by Fiesp. , which represents companies in the sector.
The company also cites other proposals, such as a R$300 food stamp for those who receive up to R$7,000, and said that these measures were approved in full last month by the Metalworkers Union of Botucatu (SP).
According to Embraer, the proposal was voted on for the first time at the unit in São José dos Campos this morning. The company added that it awaits the conclusion of the negotiation and keeps its operations running normally.
Fiesp, on the other hand, said that it “follows up the negotiations in a meeting with workers, seeking an understanding that serves everyone.”
“With the strike notice, the metallurgists warn that, if the company continues to insist on this proposal, the strike could be triggered at any time,” said the union.
The strike would have to be approved in a new vote by the workers.
At 12:30 pm, Embraer shares dropped 1.3% to R$12.38. At the same time, the Ibovespa dropped 0.3%.
