Elon Musk spoke about the “idiocy” of Tesla: the decision to stop production of the original version of the Model X was wrong

Tesla CEO Elon Musk admitted that the decision to stop production of the original Model X after the announcement of the updated car was fundamentally wrong.

It was idiotic to stop production of the original Model X in December 2020 when the demand for the car was still very strong!

He responded to a message from Sawyer Merritt, founder of Twin Birch, who stated: “Here’s the criticism: the release of the updated Model X was terrible, and the lack of communication with customers who have been waiting for their car for a year or more and continue to wait is disappointing. I know the global supply situation is dire, but it would be nice to have an answer.”

According to Bloomberg, in 2021, the production of Model X and Model S cars decreased by 55% compared to 2020. They accounted for only 2.6% of the total output of Tesla vehicles. The company’s focus was on the more affordable Model 3 and Model Y.

Earlier this month, it became known that Tesla was recalling more than 817,100 vehicles in the US. The reason is that the system may not sound a warning when the car starts moving and the driver has not fastened the seat belt.

Musk’s other company, SpaceX, successfully assembled the largest rocket in history ahead of its first orbital launch.
