This Wednesday (31), Elon Musk published on X a new video of Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus. In the caption of the video that shows the robot walking, the billionaire wrote: “Going for a walk with Optimus”.

A few weeks ago, Musk had already posted another video that aroused the curiosity of Internet users, in which Optimus appears folding a t-shirt.

The owner of Tesla and a box that only has one t-shirt)”.
In October 2022, Musk presented Tesla's humanoid robot for the first time, but the robot just walked on stage and waved to the audience. At the time, the billionaire recalled that this was just a first version of the machine, and that improvements would still be made.
What appears in the videos above is an Optimus – Gen 2, the second generation of the robot.
One of the Tesla engineers working with Optimus — also called Tesla Bot — described the improvements made throughout 2023.
“We went from an exploratory prototype (Bumblebee/cee) to a more stable platform designed by Tesla (Optimus Gen-1). We improved our locomotion, walking frequently outside the portico without falling and with a faster and increasingly more human gait. We built a very low latency, high fidelity teleoperation system, used to collect AI training data from the bot that imitates humans performing certain tasks”, published the engineer Milan Kovac.
“We have designed, trained and deployed some of the first end-to-end neural networks for humanoid robots ever seen to autonomously perform tasks that require coordinated control of the humanoid torso, arms and finger-filled hands. We designed and built yet another updated version of the robot (Optimus Gen-2), adding an articulated neck, renewed hands with tactile sensing and tighter integration of harnesses, actuators and electronics,” he added.
2023 has been awesome for Optimus.
