Elon Musk said Friday night that he would support Ron DeSandis, the Republican governor of Florida, if he were to run for president in 2024.
In a post on Twitter, Musk said: “My preference for the 2024 presidency is someone reasonable and centrist. I was hoping this would be the case for the Biden administration, but I’ve been disappointed so far».
He described himself as a “significant supporter of the Obama-Biden presidency and (reluctantly) voted for Biden over Trump.”
When one of his Twitter interlocutors asked him if he would support De Sandys in the next presidential election, Musk replied: “Yes»
Musk said in June that he was leaning toward backing DeSandis, and the two men have exchanged cheers for each other.
Musk’s expression of support comes as many party leaders, including former allies of Donald Trump, are talking about de Sandys as a more desirable choice than the former president in the next election. The Florida governor won a resounding re-election victory in the Nov. 8 election, even as many of Trump’s championed Republican candidates suffered defeats.
