I hid, waiting for him to come by and ask for an opportunity. I was about 16, 17 years old. I said: ‘I’ll do whatever it takes, but I want to work’. It was the biggest boldness out of desperation. But if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t be here”, she assured.
