Elderly dies after attack by Pitbull in Volta Redonda

A 75 -year -old elderly man died on Sunday morning after being attacked by a Pitbull dog on Contorno Avenue, in the Mangueira neighborhood, in Volta Redonda, in the southern state of Rio de Janeiro.

The Fire Department was fired at 10:17 and sent teams from Barra Mansa and Volta Redonda. Upon arriving at the residence, the military found Sonia Benício da Costa already lifeless.

A 44 -year -old man, who was also in the property at the time of the attack, suffered minor injuries and was sent to Santa Casa de Barra Mansa.

According to the PM, agents of the 28th BPM (Barra Mansa) were called to meet a body injury occurrence. At the scene, they were informed about the dog’s attack, which would have escaped and attacked the elderly.

The animal tutor was taken to the 90th Police Station (Barra Mansa), where the case was registered. The dog was collected and taken to Cirac (Integrated Center for Animal Assistance, Assistance and Control) in Porto Real.

The Civil Police reported that they have established an inquiry to investigate the circumstances of the incident and evaluate the eventual responsibility of the tutor of the animal. The expertise was held at the scene, and witnesses are being heard.
