Eduardo Costa speaks out about controversy with Leonardo: “My idol, my brother”

THE singer Eduardo Costa 45, commented before his show at the ExpoCláudio Rodeio Festival about the possible fights after the breakup of the partnership with country singer Leonardo 61, with whom he performed “Cabaré” for more than ten years.

Contrary to the alleged fights that could still exist between the two, Costa said that: “Leonardo is a guy that I love, he is my idol, my brother, my partner. He is the guy who taught me a lot and who I have respected my entire life”.

In an interview with the Instagram page Conceito Sertanejo, Eduardo commented that he formed a duo with his friend and felt very honored by the opportunity.

“I never imagined in my wildest dreams that one day I would have a country music duo with Leonardo and I fulfilled my biggest dream. […] because ‘Cabaré’ was not a project, the project was Leonardo and Eduardo Costa in ‘Cabaré’”.

The singers’ first album was released in 2014, with the aim of reinterpreting classic country songs. In a live broadcast in 2020, during the pandemic, the duo had an audience of more than 3 million simultaneous views on YouTube.

The alleged fights would have started after this appearance due to jokes that Eduardo made under the influence of alcoholic beverages during the show.

After 13 years and more than 300 shows together, the two decided to end the group and continue with their solo careers.

However, in an interview with Domingo Espetacular, on Record, Costa clarified that he had “no disagreement with Leonardo, unlike what many people believe. We had a friendly conversation and decided to end the cycle there. The ‘Cabaré’ project will never exist again.”

At ExpoClaudio, the singer reinforced the idea that he has no grudges with his friend, showing his admiration for him. “I love you, Léo, more than anything, because you are a guy who gave me an opportunity in life and I am grateful to God for giving me this opportunity to be with you, to sing with you, to love you, to hug you and to be able to participate in everything with you.”
