THE Eddie Rama did speak to the members of the special group of negotiators of Albania’s accession path to the EU and we referred to the case of the elected mayor Heimarras Freddy Belleri.
On the eve of the trial of the case, the Albanian Prime Minister stated that “we were unjustly prevented (including at the recent EU Summit), but we will continue our work. I am convinced that together with our neighbors we will manage to put the main reasons on this issue.”
“In no way do we doubt the importance it has for our neighbors and for which we are certainly available for anything that does not affect the process of establishing our new justice system. There is no possible compromise here, not because we don’t want it, but because the justice we want is more stubborn than us,” he added.
He also stated that “having said all that, our work will continue, no matter how long it takes. You should not worry and I believe that we will not waste time, as we will find the “language”, always making it clear, as in any matter of justice, that we do not make any compromises with anyone and for any reason. This is very clear to us. But on the other hand, I think it’s also clear for the whole EU.”
