British pop star Ed Sheeran has revealed that he filmed his latest music video in Kiev, Ukraine’s capital, just days before Russia invaded the country.
The singer-songwriter released the video for his track 2step, featuring rapper Lil Baby, on Friday morning on his official YouTube channel.
Before the song starts, a message written by the singer appears on the screen in black and white.
In it, the 31-year-old Grammy winner explains that he filmed the clip in Kiev before “the devastating acts of violence began.”
“It was the first time I visited the country and I felt very well received”, he said.
“Ukraine is a proud and resilient country and I am grateful that I had the chance to film my video there.
“I stand with Ukraine, and I will donate my copyright from the video streams on YouTube to the Humanitarian Appeal for Ukraine created by the Emergency Disaster Committee [grupo de instituições de caridade britânicas]”, added the singer.
The 2step track is on Sheeran’s latest album “=” (pronounced “equals”), which he released in 2021.
