Ty Jones, a 28-year-old who doubles as the singer Ed Sheeran was surprised three days ago to have his TikTok account suspended after the video platform claimed he was impersonating someone else – in this case, the British artist.
On his Instagram, the boy posted an outburst and asked his followers for help to recover his profile on the neighboring social network. According to a notice that appeared on his own TikTok page, his account was banned for “impersonation”.
“It’s funny that my TikTok account got banned for ‘impersonation’ when my name was individual, my lives were titled ‘I’m not Ed Sheeran’. My videos consisted of my individual life as a celebrity look-alike. TikTok banned me, I appealed and within minutes I got a response that I was denied,” he said in the post.
Jones went on to say that the singer’s team had nothing to do with what happened. “I feel totally discriminated against for my appearance. I have reached out to Ed Sheeran’s team and they claim they have no involvement in this story.”
With more than 109,000 followers and at least 783,000 likes on his content on the short video platform, Ty Jones works interpreting the singer at parties, social media, promotions and presentations. This Friday (19) his TikTok profile is up again.
