The first debate between the main candidates for the Presidency of the Republic took place this Sunday night (28), organized by TV Bandeirantes in partnership with UOL, Folha de S.Paulo and TV Cultura. The general impression is that economic issues remained on the surface, despite the strong political connotation when they appeared.
At the center of the dispute between the two main presidential candidates, Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), is the maintenance of the payment of AuxÃlio Brasil in the region of R$ 600 next year, although neither of them has explained how the federal budget will accommodate such a promise.
It is expected that, by next Wednesday (31), the federal government will send the 2023 Budget proposal to Congress — and, as there is no legal support for maintaining AuxÃlio Brasil at R$ 600, it is likely to return. to the level of R$ 400. In addition to the programs of each candidate, the next government official will have to deal, necessarily, with the limit of public spending, and, in particular, with a sense of priority in the distribution of resources.
While the electoral campaign is running, the agenda of economic indicators continues to follow.
This week, they are expected to reveal a more positive picture of the country, including GDP growth in the 2nd quarter, cooling of inflation and unemployment data. In this Monday’s episode, the CNN Money seeks to address the film that this photograph prepares for the coming year, as the context casts doubt on the conditions for the growth of economic activity, the generation of formal vacancies and the attractiveness of investments.
Presented by Thais Herédia and Priscila Yazbek, CNN Money presents a balance of news issues that influence markets, finances and the direction of society and power dynamics in Brazil and worldwide.
