The recent death toll in Turkey and Syria by the killers earthquakes has risen to 8,764, causing worldwide grief.
According to the Turkish Disaster Management Agency (AFAD), 6,234 people have lost their lives in Turkey from the strong seismic vibration. Meanwhile, the death toll in Syria has exceeded 2,500, based on data from Syrian state media and the organization of rescuers active in rebel-held areas, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency reports, citing Reuters and AFP.
The White Helmets announced on Twitter that the dead in the areas of Syria controlled by the rebels exceed 1,280, while their wounded 2,600. “The number is expected to increase significantly as hundreds of families remain under the debris, more than 50 hours after the earthquake,” the organization said.

In the meantime, the Syrian Ministry of Health reported that the death toll in the areas of the country controlled by Damascus reached 1,250, as reported by the state news agency al Ikhbariya. The injured amount to 2,054.
