A drunk driver was responsible for running over and killing two teenagers on Saturday morning (31), in Brasilândia, north of São Paulo. The driver was drunk and was arrested after a breathalyzer test. The victims were hospitalized, but their deaths were confirmed by family members on Tuesday (3).
Security camera footage recorded the moment when Heros Alcondas Abreu, 15, and Kaique Peres Santana, 16, were hit by an out-of-control car while walking along the sidewalk.
The teenagers were thrown by the impact of the crash.
Then, Sérgio Roberto de Paula, 53, gets out of the car and notices one of the victims already lying down. He returns to the vehicle, picks up a cell phone, and then approaches the same victim again. The other young man who was run over is meters behind, close to where the crash occurred.
In the images, at no point does the driver appear to realize that there was another victim of the accident. The sequence of images shows that two vehicles stop on the other side of the avenue to observe what happened.
The incident was registered at the 72nd Police District, in Vila Penteado.
