The Government of Amazonas appointed the brother of an international drug trafficker to the position of manager at the Deputy Executive Secretariat of Intelligence, linked to the Public Security Secretariat. According to the AM Government Transparency Portal, Lanalbert Nunes Obando was appointed Intelligence manager and received a remuneration of R$5,564.67. Lanalbert is the brother of Sérgio Roberto Obando, a drug dealer arrested and convicted of drug trafficking and association with drug trafficking.
Sérgio is identified as a member of a criminal organization that commanded transnational drug trafficking in the triple border region (Brazil, Colombia and Peru), with emphasis on the cities of Tabatinga (Brazil), Letícia (Colombia) and Santa Rosa (Peru). . He was arrested in 2011 as part of Operation Island, launched by the Federal Police.
