According to Dom Odilo, the news of Pope Francis’ death was received with sadness, but not surprisingly, due to the worsening state of health in recent times. The archbishop recalled the difficulties faced by the Pope, including mobility problems and recent pneumonia that affected him.
Contributions to the Church
Dom Odilo stressed the significant contributions of Pope Francis to the Catholic Church since his election in 2013. “We have a lot to thank God for the life of Pope Francis, who made a great contribution to the Church to take steps on the line of the practice of the Second Vatican Council,” he said. “His example will be marked in the church.”
Among the prominent aspects of the Pontificate of Francis, Dom Odilo mentioned the effort to make the church more missionary and focused on the world, as well as internal reform to promote greater participation of the faithful. “The Pope struggled a lot for it to make the church more participative, more conscious as a whole from the participation of all in the life and mission of the church,” he explained.
