Zelenski said that this meeting could prove historical if it carries the kind of peace he hoped, while a White House spokesman described it as “very constructive”. The two leaders, leaning close to each other, without consultants around them, sitting in two chairs on St. Peter’s Basilica, talked about 15 minutes, according to Zelenski’s office, and photos from their meeting were released by both Kiev and Washington.
