A mini-documentary about the Beatles’ latest unreleased track was released on the British rock band’s YouTube channel. The content will be officially launched this Thursday (02) and tells the story of “Now and Then” and its finalization process between 1995 and 2022, when modern technologies helped, for example, in cleaning John Lennon’s voice from the original recording .
Oliver Murray’s direction used excerpts from recordings from 1995, as well as reports from important characters in the construction of the song such as Paul, Ringo, George, Sean Ono Lennon and Peter Jackson. When they tried to develop the song, members Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison used the writing of John Lennon, who also left a recorded version, dating from the late 70s.
Only in 1994, the singer’s widow, Yoko Ono, delivered the recording in a demo version with Lennon’s vocals and piano. The construction of the track also included George Harrison’s rhythm guitar and McCartney fondly recalled the meetings with the other members. In 1995, the creation coincided with the creation of the songs “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love” for the “Anthology” projects.
In addition to the release, on November 10th, the albums “The Beatles 1962-1966” (known as “The Red Album”) and “The Beatles 1967-1970” (“The Blue Album”) will be re-released.
