Doctors are exonerated in the Amazon after video ridiculing children’s screams

Two doctors from the municipality of Maués, in Amazonas, were exonerated after recording a video in which they ridiculed the screams of a child in the hospital.

The caption of the video implies that the child was struck by lightning, and one of them comments that the patient “seems to be being exorcised” while screaming.

Maués City Hall said that it “determined the immediate dismissal of the health professionals involved in this regrettable episode”. And he reiterated that “he values a humanized public health, as well as repudiates and rejects any unethical and inhumane posture of health professionals”.

The Regional Council of Medicine of Amazonas (CRM-AM) said it was aware of the fact and will determine the professional and ethical responsibilities of the doctors involved. The verification process takes place under secrecy, as determined by law.

The CRM-AM also said that “it does not condone this type of attitude and that it works day and night in favor of ethics and good medicine”.
