With more and more differences in relation to the original soap opera, the remake of “Reborn” (TV Globo) will present some new plots. Adapted by Bruno Luperi 35, grandson of the original author, Benedito Ruy Barbosa the story may have a meeting of Zinha (Samantha Jones) and Joana (Alice Carvalho).
In an interview with CNN , the author of the adaptation revealed that no ending of the soap opera is defined. Despite this, he states that the characters may bear fruit at some point.
“I haven't written Joana with Zinha, but while one lives a moment of disappointment, due to Tião's dreams [Irandhir Santos]who does not accept the little that God has given her, the other is discovering sexuality late, because she never accepted herself”, reveals Bruno.
From what I've already read in the text, I think the two together would give a beautiful result, because they are two great actresses.

In 1993, Zinha wasn't even a woman. In the original version, the character was played by Cosme dos Santos and ended up alongside Lurdinha (Íris Nascimento), sales employee Norbert (Nelson Xavier).
Even at that time, Joana (Tereza Seiblitz) had her ending alongside Father Livio (Jackson Costa), who had to give up his costume to stay with the character after the death of Tião Galinha (Osmar Prado).
Even though, in the remake, Bruno Luperi changed the character's religion, who became a pastor — something that would reduce the impediments to his relationship with Joana —, for him, his creations in the plot gained a certain independence.
“The soap opera starts from the text, but each nucleus, such as scenography, costumes, direction, acting, editing, all of that makes up other layers of the characters”, he explains.
Luperi still praises Samantha Jones who, in his view, managed to define Zinha's relationship with João Pedro (Juan Paiva): friendship.

“The fear we had with Zinha was that people would want to ship her with João Pedro. Because, on paper, they are very close, they are a 'made couple'. But she and Juan [Paiva] they managed to step into a space that the text proposed, very appropriately, that it is a friendship beyond gender”, he states. “She is the sister he never had, even though he had three brothers.”
As for Pastor Livio role of Breno da Matta , the author made him occupy a new place in the plot. “He obtains this new space, of a figure of ecumenism, who dechurched and has his own trajectory, but who does not necessarily have the question that Father Lívio had of a 'Passion of Christ', a path that was not ours” .
When you add all these agents, some things emerge. This ending of Zinha with Joana is still open. The endings are all open, because I'm still heading there. But the idea is that I give the characters the best I have along the way.

The author also stated that he is curious to see how the story will unfold, since the performance of Samantha Jones It is Alice Carvalho in capturing the essence of the characters allowed this to happen on paper.
“Everything makes up the soap opera with us, it’s a very living organism. I can't say if they will end up together, I know there will be a meeting there. [Mas não sei] If it’s going to be beautiful, if it’s going to lead to a happy ending, if there’s going to be another disagreement, it’s okay…” said Luperi, remembering the meeting between Zinha and Lu (Eli Ferreira).
Zinha’s sexuality in the remake of “Renascer”
While discovering her sexuality, Zinha showed interest in teacher Lu, which did not respond, but was essential in helping the character in this moment of self-understanding.
“How beautiful it is to be able to follow the dilemma of people going through what they [as personagens] are passing by, because We are not discussing whether she is a lesbian or not, but whether she will be happy in the end ”, points out Luperi.
“There is a certain modernity in the development of the arcs of all the characters. It's very much within our time, with a more fluid, broader sexuality and gender, with an understanding that everything is okay. But, suddenly, in the head of that person who is going through that, it is difficult, it is a trauma”, concludes the author.
