Discrete Intel Arc Alchemist graphics cards will go on sale in the second quarter, but the company is already working on a new generation of 3D accelerators

Intel confirmed plans to release the Arc Alchemist series GPUs at the Investors Meeting 2022. It was important for investors (as well as ordinary users) to hear that the company’s discrete 3D cards based on DG2 graphics accelerators will go on sale in the second quarter of this year. Recall that the rumors were talking about the same thing.

True, whether they will be available to everyone is a big question. The company announced that it intends to sell four million discrete 3D accelerators by the end of the year, but this number includes devices from other series. For example, Ponte Vecchio or DG1. Therefore, in reality, fewer Arc Alchemist series devices will be shipped to the market. Given the current shortage, even four million graphics cards is a drop in the ocean.

Intel has confirmed that laptops with Arc Alchemist 3D accelerators will be introduced in the current quarter, and 3D workstation accelerators in the third quarter. The latter will probably include a model with five video outputs.

Also at a meeting with investors, company representatives mentioned a new Project Endgame service (no details here, but it is believed that Nvidia GeForce Now is a competitor under this name) and confirmed the start of work on a new GPU architecture – Celestial. This is the third generation Xe-HPG architecture, graphics cards based on it will be released after Arc Alchemist and Battlemage.
