The bar for luxury hotels in Vietnam has just been raised – literally. The new Vinpearl Landmark 81 , autograph collection has just opened inside the country’s tallest building, Landmark 81, in Ho Chi Minh City.
It reaches 461 meters in height and overlooks the Saigon River, in the eastern section of Vietnam’s largest city. Unsurprisingly, the panorama seen from the sky is a huge draw.
There are 223 rooms and suites spread across the property. The most luxurious of the bunch is the 68th-floor penthouse suite, which the hotel bills as the largest and highest presidential suite in all of Vietnam.
The 5,000-square-foot suite has two marble bathrooms, sleeping space for up to five, plus a private chef and mixologist on request. All individual rooms, not limited to suites, have floor-to-ceiling glass windows to allow the ambience to be fully utilized.
Meanwhile, the hotel’s Oriental Pearl restaurant prepares Phởthe noodle soup that is arguably the country’s most famous dish – and makes it more sophisticated using wagyu beef.
At the aptly named The Cloud café, traditional Vietnamese coffees and locally produced chocolates are on offer.
There are three event spaces at Vinpearl. All three have outdoor terrace areas, and one is big enough to drive a car, according to the hotel.
Plus, there’s a spa called Akoya, named after a traditional Vietnamese pearl that symbolizes beauty. While there, visitors have the option of enjoying a spa treatment such as a massage or facial, or spending time in the sauna, hammam, or infinity pool.
“We look forward to raising the bar for hospitality for local and international business and leisure travelers to this vibrant Vietnamese metropolis,” Vinpearl General Manager Goetz Bauer said in a statement.
He added, “We look forward to becoming a new beacon of light on the horizon, fostering meaningful connections between our dear guests and the quintessential spirit of this compelling city.”
The hotel – which is the Vietnam debut for Marriott’s Autograph Collection brand – spans 34 floors of the 81-story skyscraper.
The rest of Landmark 81 is a mix of private residences and public attractions. Guests can visit the ice skating rink, movie theater, children’s play area and shopping mall without leaving the building, as well as visit the 81st floor observation deck.
The building’s design was inspired by a Vietnamese legend in which a three-year-old boy named Thanh Giong managed to fight an enemy using only a bundle of bamboo.
Vinpearl Landmark 81 is located about 11 kilometers from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the largest and busiest airport in Vietnam.
