The Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino 53, revealed that Did not watch the filming of the intimate scenes in “Call Me By Your Name” (2017) during a conversation with director Denis Villeneuve for the Actors on Actors panel.
“I was never in the room when they filmed particularly intimate scenes. I don’t want to intrude. I describe everything, but then I’ll go. They have to make love to the camera . So when we cut, I walked into the room to say, ‘Thank you. Okay, it was fun,’” he explained.
“The important thing is leave them completely free and not constrained . They shouldn’t think about their public image or anything like that. Everything falls apart in that moment of intimacy in such a way that, after it’s done, we also pinch ourselves and say, ‘Ah, we did it. How did you do that?’ To get that intimacy, you need to make sure they know you are fully invested in it.”
“Call Me By Your Name” follows the awakening of young Elio (Timothée Chalamet) as he develops an interest in the American academic Oliver (Armie Hammer) staying in his house.
