Dire Straits leader brings together more than 60 artists for charity single

Mark Knopfler, leader of Dire Straits, brought together more than 60 artists to release a new version of his instrumental single “Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)” from 1983. The song is scheduled to hit platforms on March 15th and all The amount raised will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America.

In the “We Are The World” style, the group of artists who recorded the single were named “Mark Knopfler's Guitar Heroes” and features big names in music such as: Tom Morello, Slash, Nile Rodgers, Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett, Joe Satriani, Bruce Springsteen, David Gilmour, Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood, Sam Fender, among others.

Most of the single's artists play guitar, except former Beatle Ringo Starr, who will be present with his son Zack Starkey on drums, Sting, who was the lead singer of The Police, who plays bass, while The Who's lead singer Roger Daltrey, play the harmonica.
