Digital influencer with 500 thousand followers is arrested for holding illegal raffles

A 27-year-old digital influencer, who had around 500,000 followers on social media, was arrested during Operation Arachnid launched by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG).

According to investigations, the man carried out illegal raffles in the form of a draw and committed crimes against consumer relations.

PCMG located him after receiving anonymous complaints made after the Proverbs 16:18 operation, which resulted in the arrest of seven other digital influencers, also in the city of Juiz de Fora, in the Minas Gerais forest area.

The suspect boasted a luxurious life and offered on his social networks a supposed “robot” that would carry out economic operations in the binary options market, without having any license or legal regulation.

The supposed machinery was sold for the amount of R$1,000 and promised that its operations would be copied on a binary options trading platform.

As the delegate responsible for the action, Márcio Rocha, explained, “binary options are operations based on the increase or decrease in prices for a period of time, determined by the negotiator. It could be an operation in international shares, in currency pairs, in stock indices, in commodities, among others”, detailed the delegate.

In addition to the suspect not having any license to carry out the operations and sell the products, the police identified during the investigations that the platform on which he offered the products is not hosted in Brazil, but in a tax haven close to the Caribbean, where there are several complaints. of default against the alleged broker.

During the operation, police seized two luxury vehicles. Complaints against the influencer made by people who felt harmed by the courses offered by the suspect are under investigation. The man is still being investigated for money laundering. He was arrested and sent to the prison system.
