in carried out by CNN this Monday (20), federal deputies Kim Kataguiri (União Brasil-SP) and Sergeant Gurgel (PL-RJ) discussed the installation of a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) in the Chamber to investigate the pricing policy of the Petrobras .
the federal deputy Ricardo Barros (PP-PR), in an interview with CNN said that a CPI would have the objective of “evaluating the price of fuel and the reasons for being so high”.
Sergeant Gurgel agreed with the government leader in the Chamber and celebrated the fact that the National Congress is no longer discussing corruption in the state-owned company, but political policies. “We need to establish parameters and verify that these policies are in accordance with the ethics, morals and interests of the social function of mixed-capital state-owned companies, such as Petrobras,” he said.
Kataguiri, however, stressed that the purpose of a commission of inquiry is not to debate public policies. “If we are not discussing crime and we are discussing public policy, there is no place for a CPI. CPI does not debate public policy, those who debate public policy are permanent committees in the Chamber. It is within this framework that legislative proposals should be discussed,” she explained.
The União Brasil deputy said he did not understand the government of Jair Bolsonaro to encourage the opening of the CPI, since it is over Petrobras and is under the jurisdiction of the Executive. “It is the first time that I see a government wanting to open an investigation against itself, because the president of the Republic is the one who appoints most of the 11 councilors. If there is a crime to be investigated at Petrobras, the president needs to be investigated too,” he defended.
For him, the opening of the CPI is an electoral strategy of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to get rid of responsibility for the rise in the price of fuels .
Sergeant Gurgel, in turn, classified the president’s attitude as “commendable”. “The chief executive wants to open a CPI to investigate the government itself is healthy, it is healthy and proves that he is looking at the people”, pointed out the PL deputy.
