Depp and Amber Heard’s legal battle puts the spotlight on their careers

The actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heardbest known, perhaps, for their performances as a pirate and a sea warrior, respectively, currently find themselves starring in a libel trial in Virginia, United States.

Depp is suing his ex-wife Amber for $50 million, claiming she defamed him with a 2018 “Washington Post” editorial in which she wrote about her experience with domestic violence.

The actor was not mentioned by name in the ex’s article, but he said it cost him work.

In testimony this week, Depp was questioned by his attorney about some of the movie franchises he has starred in in addition to his work as Captain Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.

“Boy, hmmm, ‘Alice in Wonderland’? I’m so pathetic when it comes to knowing which movies I’ve made. I’m sorry,” he said in a statement. “I don’t watch them. I feel better not watching them. I couldn’t, um, I – what was the question?”

So here’s a reminder for Johnny Depp of some of his most memorable roles, plus some Amber Heard movie highlights.

The nightmare time

It wasn’t a breakout role, but Depp, then 21, played Glen in the 1984 horror film that became a classic. His character, of course, was murdered in the film.

law Angels

Depp was more successful on the small screen.

He played Thomas “Tom” Hanson in the series about a group of police officers whose youthful appearance allows them to work undercover in their teens. The show aired on Fox from 1987 to 1991.

Hidden Palms

Amber Heard also received some attention in Hollywood playing a teenager.

She starred as Greta Matthews in the CW teen drama set in Palm Springs, California, which aired in 2007.

The Playboy Club

Another short-lived series starring actress hi the 2011 NBC drama “The Playboy Club”.

Set in the 1960s, the series focused on a group of “Bunny Bunnies” who worked at Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Club in Chicago.

Amber Heard played the naive Maureen, who was adjusting to living and working in the big city.

Diary of a Drunk Journalist

That same year, “Diary of a Drunk Journalist” premiered in theaters.

Depp and Heard met on the set of the film based on the Hunter S. Thompson novel of the same name in 2009.

Edward Scissor Hands

When Amber Heard and Johnny Depp crossed paths, he was already a true movie star.

His role as a humanoid with scissors in his hands was a hit in 1991 (the film was released in December 1990) and earned Depp acclaim, including a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a musical or comedy.

Alice in Wonderland

Depp reunited with “Edward Scissorhands” director Tim Burton for the 2010 film “Alice in Wonderland.”

He played Tarrant Hightopp, the Mad Hatter.

Aquaman

Amber played the love interest of Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry/Aquaman character in the 2018 DC superhero movie.

She was Mera, a princess and warrior. The actress will return in the sequel to the film, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” which is scheduled to premiere in 2023.
