Influencer Deolane Bezerra, arrested on Wednesday (4), during the operation launched by the Civil Police of Pernambuco that targets a criminal organization suspected of involvement in illegal gambling and money laundering, remains detained in the Recife Women’s Penal Colony (CPFR), in the metropolitan region.
The confirmation was made this Saturday (7) by lawyer Carlos André Dantas, who is part of her defense team.
He denied the information that Deolane had left prison on Friday (6). According to Dantas, there is a conflict of jurisdiction between criminal chambers of the Court of Justice of Pernambuco to judge the habeas corpus filed by the defense, due to another request filed previously by a lawyer from Paraná.
“I was waiting at the TJPE for information about the habeas corpus, requested by the team of lawyers representing Dr. Deolane Bezerra’s family. I contacted the criminal department and was informed that there was a conflict of jurisdiction between the criminal chambers of the Court, due to the jurisdiction caused by the first HC filed, filed by a lawyer not on Dr. Deolane’s team of lawyers, who asked to withdraw it soon after, but even so, he established that chamber as the competent one to judge the habeas corpus”, explained Dantas.
According to the lawyer, the request filed by the influencer’s defense is still awaiting judgment.
Dayanne Bezerra, Deolane’s sister, also posted on social media commenting on the conflict of jurisdiction. “My people, my sister’s habeas corpus was not judged due to the conflict of jurisdiction that occurred in the court, and it had to be redistributed to the competent judge in order to judge this habeas corpus,” she said.
Operation saw luxury cars and aircraft seized
In addition to 19 arrest warrants, Operation Integration served 24 search and seizure warrants, seized assets (luxury cars, real estate, aircraft and vessels) and valuables. The freezing of financial assets worth R$2.1 billion was also requested.
Authorities say that among the targets is a group linked to bets (sports betting sites), but they claim that the target of the investigation are activities not permitted by law (sports betting is regular).
The warrants were served in Recife (PE), Campina Grande (PB), Barueri (SP), Cascavel and Curitiba (PR) and Goiânia (GO). All of them were issued by the 12th Criminal Court of the capital of Pernambuco.
The investigation began with the seizure of R$180,000 and is now in its third phase. It is focused on a money laundering scheme acquired through gambling and is divided into three phases: acquisition, concealment and integration of the money into the assets of those involved – the latter is what led to Deolane’s arrest.
The VaideBet and Esportes de Sorte websites claim to comply with the legislation and say they are at the disposal of the authorities.
