Delegate reports evidence of other rapes committed by anesthesiologist on the day of arrest

The Civil Police expects to hear this Tuesday (12) the husband of the woman who was raped during a cesarean section last Sunday (10).

So far, police officers from the Police Station for Assistance to Women in São João de Meriti have already heard from members of the medical team, hospital employees and women who believe they were victims of anesthesiologist Giovanni Quintella Bezerra.

According to delegate Bárbara Lomba, in testimony members of the medical team talked about sedation. “They said it is not the procedure generally adopted. They weren’t looking at exactly what he (Giovanni) was doing because they were attentive to the surgery.”

From the depositions, the police concluded that Giovanni always acted at the end of the proceedings. “The crime was at the end. It was suturing time. We had no idea at what time the crime took place. Now we know it was in the submission”, said the delegate.

The delegate also hopes to hear from the other two patients who were treated on the same day as the filming.

“We have indications that he committed the same crime with other patients on the same day. Same way of acting,” she said.

The 32-year-old anesthetist was arrested after staff at the health unit where he worked filmed with a hidden cell phone the moment he was passing the genital organ in the face of an unconscious patient during a cesarean section. The images were presented to investigators at the Police Station for Assistance to Women (Deam) in São João de Meriti, where the case was registered.
