Iran is building a “defense tunnel” in the capital Tehran, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported today, following Israel’s recent strikes on targets in the country. This tunnel, located near the city center, will connect a Tehran metro station with the “Imam Khomeini” hospital, thus allowing direct underground access to the nursing center. For the first time in the country, a tunnel with defense applications is being built in Tehran, said the head of transportation of the Iranian capital’s municipal council in Tasnim. Last month, Israel launched a raid on military targets in Iran, in its first strikes against the country it officially recognizes. These targeted missile factories and other locations near Tehran and western Iran and were in retaliation for Tehran’s barrage of rockets into Israel on October 1. Source: RES
