DEDA: Gas projects worth 29.1 million euros were auctioned in Epirus

The implementation of the Development Program 2021-2025 of DEDA is progressing rapidly. On December 29 & 30, 2021, the projects for the expansion of the natural gas distribution network in 4 cities of the Epirus Region – Ioannina, Arta, Preveza and Igoumenitsa – were auctioned for a total amount of 29.1 million euros (excluding VAT). These cities will be supplied with the technology of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) small scale, which DEDA introduces for the first time in Greece. The projects are expected to start in the first half of 2022 and will be completed by the end of 2025.

In detail, the new tenders of DEDA for the gas projects in the Region of Epirus provide the following:

1. Ioannina: The project concerns the construction of 119 km of low pressure network in the urban fabric of the city of Ioannina and 10 km of medium pressure network for the transport of natural gas from the Ioannina Industrial Area where the LNG units will be installed. By 2026, there will be at least 2,650 consumer connections of all categories (domestic, commercial, industrial).

The construction of the network in Ioannina has a budget of 14.8 million euros (excluding VAT) and is co-financed by DEDA and the Public Investment Program (grant amount of 9.7 million euros).

2. Arta, Preveza and Igoumenitsa: The project envisages the construction of 30 km of low pressure network in the urban fabric of each city. These cities will be supplied with natural gas through LNG units that will be installed in places around the cities. By 2026, at least 1,650 consumer connections of all categories will be made.

The construction of the network in Arta, Preveza and Igoumenitsa has a budget of 5.47 million euros (excluding VAT) and is co-financed by DEDA and the Public Investment Program (grant amount of 3.6 million euros).

It is noted that in all the above cases, the number of consumer connections is the minimum that is expected to take place. If there is more demand, it will be fully met.

In addition to the above tenders related to construction projects in the Region of Epirus, tenders were also published regarding the services of supervision, inspection and management of projects, as well as the supply of materials. Only the tender for the supply of LNG units that will be installed on the outskirts of each city is pending. These tenders will be auctioned within the first quarter of 2022, after the completion of the basic design studies.

The works start in Veria, Giannitsa and Livadia

Also, the Court of Auditors successfully completed the pre-contractual audit for the expansion projects of the gas distribution network in Veria and Giannitsa of the Region of Central Macedonia, as well as in Livadia of the Region of Central Greece and in the next period the contracts will be signed and contractors.
It is recalled that these projects provide for the following:

1. Veria – Giannitsa: For the supply of the two cities with the technology of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), 80 kilometers of network and infrastructure will be constructed, while more than 2,100 consumer connections of all categories will be made by 2023. The project is budget 7 , 9 million euros (excluding VAT) and is co-financed by the Operational Program “Central Macedonia 2014-2020”.

Meanwhile, the implementation of the big projects of DEDA continues smoothly in other cities of the country. Indicatively, in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the projects for the expansion of the natural gas distribution network in Komotini, Xanthi, Drama, Alexandroupolis and Kavala are in progress, where the first consumer connections have already been made, while the next 15 days will start. project in Orestiada.
