The actor Daniel Radcliffe best known for playing Harry Potter in the franchise's eight films, recalled feeling “terrified” by the presence of Alan Rickman on the set, who played the role of Professor Severus Snape.
“I was so intimidated by Alan Rickman. How could you not have that voice?” said Radcliffe during his appearance on the podcast Happy Sad Confused. “Even hearing that voice, you forget how deep it was until it echoes through you.”
He added: “I was so intimidated by him in the first three films [de “Harry Potter”]. I was terrified of him and thought 'this guy hates me.' At some point he realized that I really wanted to do it and work on it [na atuação].”
Radcliffe then recalled that Rickman — who died in 2016, aged 69 — became one of his biggest supporters and mentors throughout his career.
“He cut his vacation short in Canada and came back to come see me in 'Equus.' He saw all the theater work I did when he was alive”, added the actor. “He would take me out afterwards and we would talk about it. He was one of the first people to say, 'You should look into voice training and pursue all this stuff.' I was so lucky.”
