A serious issue has arisen in Cyprus after a British publication that “talks” about turning Varosia into Las Vegas with involvement in the King Charles issue. The Cypriot President, Nikos Christodoulidis, was asked today to comment on an article in the Daily Express newspaper, based on which the Turks plan to turn the enclosed area of Famagusta (Varosia) into Las Vegas.
The publication states that large investments will be made, while the “game” also includes King Charlesfor which it is stated that owns a hotel in the area.
N. Christodoulidis replied that the issue is being handled diplomatically.
“We are monitoring all the reports, many times we have seen similar reports in the past, our diplomatic mission, the High Commission in London is investigating the matter and everything that needs to be done through the diplomatic channel, rest assured that it is being done,” he said.
The article emphasizes how Turkey's intention is to create a serious diplomatic issue between London and Nicosia. The Daily Express citing sources from occupied Cyprus reports that King Charles owns the Golden Sands Hotel. which has remained in ruins for 50 years.
This particular hotel operated for the first time in 1974, just one month before the Turkish invasion and was declared as the first seven-star hotel in the world. In fact, it was so big that a railway had been built in the interior to transport customers.
In the past members of the royal family have denied owning the hotelwhile there is now a question mark as to whether it is used by British forces, without this being confirmed by the Ministry of Defence.
