Cyprus: Scholarship program for studies in sectors related to hydrocarbons offered by the Ministry of Energy

Number of scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate programs at Master and Doctoral level, for studies starting in the academic year 2022-2023 in sectors related to hydrocarbons, renewable energy sources and the energy transition announced by the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry of Cyprus.

As indicated in the relevant announcement, the provision of a scholarship by the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry will only be valid for the academic year 2022-2023.

As for the remaining years of study of the scholarship candidate, these will be covered by the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, as long as there are credits available and based on the ranking order that the candidate has already secured in the academic year 2022-2023.

The maximum amount for each scholarship is €20,000 per year and will cover tuition fees and an amount for a monthly maintenance allowance.

Scholarships will only cover the required study time as determined by the curriculum description and not any delays or repetitions due to unsatisfactory student performance.

Relevant fields of study for undergraduate programs are defined fields in Petroleum/Hydrocarbon Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Oil and Natural Gas Management, Renewable Energy Sources and energy transition in general. Relevant fields of study for Master’s and Doctorate level postgraduate programs are defined as any fields relevant to hydrocarbons, renewable energy sources and the energy transition.

The selection criteria for undergraduate and postgraduate programs including PhDs are academic with a weight of 80% and socio-economic with a weight of 20% and the condition is to secure a place without admission conditions.

Friday, September 23, 2022 has been set as the last day for submitting applications.

The method of submission will be by completing the relevant application. The general terms and conditions, as well as the evaluation criteria, are contained in a relevant announcement, which together with the application are published on the website of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry http://www.meci.gov.cy.
