The Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) opened this Monday (20) an investigation into news that anticipated the resignation of the CEO of Petrobras , José Mauro Coelho according to information from the municipality.
Coelho resigned from office this morning, after protests by President Jair Bolsonaro and parliamentarians against a new readjustment in the prices of fuels last Friday (17).
The resignation announcement came after O Globo newspaper earlier reported that members of Petrobras’ board of directors who spoke with Coelho over the weekend reported the executive’s willingness to resign.
Before the company officially manifested itself, business with Petrobras shares came to be suspended in the B3 .
Asked whether the investigation may involve any accusation of “insider trading”, the CVM did not manifest. The municipality told the CNN that “follows up and analyzes information and transactions involving publicly-held companies and the capital market, taking appropriate measures, whenever necessary”, but that “does not comment on specific cases”.
The administrative proceeding opened by the CVM, number 19957.006614/2022-48, may become a formal investigation, depending on the conclusions reached after analysis by the monitoring management of the autarchy’s companies, as is customary in these cases.
